Triathlon Club Dubrovnik was founded in 2016 as a result of the desire of sports enthusiasts to populate Triathlon as a way of life in Dubrovnik.
Club members are mostly amateur athletes motivated by the desire for socializing and sports competitions. Although young, the club has been successfully organizing and participating in the organization of numerous sports competitions in Dubrovnik.
We wanted to attract people who want a positive change in their lives regardless of physical readiness, previous experience, gender or age. In addition to the racing competition within the Dubrovnik Run League, which has existed since 2014, we have also organized the DU Aquathlon League that combines competitions in swimming and running. Both leagues are designed as a year-round series of races to which anyone can try. In addition to these races, we have built the experience by organizing individual races, including PH in aquatint.
Of course, beside organizing races we’re also participating. Our members have achieved remarkable results in competitions of regional, national and world character in the past year, so TC Dubrovnik has been recognized as prospective by other clubs as well as by the local community.
What is a triathlon?
Triathlon is an athletic competition that includes three different disciplines. Most commonly, the triathlon involves sporting competition in disciplines: swimming, cycling and running. During the race, the competitor must cross the predetermined stock by swim, riding the bike or running in a predetermined schedule.
Why a triathlon?
According to figures in 2006, over 43% of deaths in Croatia were caused by heart and blood vessels. And now there are 1.6 billion people in the world with a body mass index (BMI> 25) and about 40 million people with obesity (BMI> 30). Deceit on your own body and health is at its peak.
The World Health Organization (WHO) gives the following recommendations on adult body activity:
30 minutes of moderate physical activity 5 days a week or
20 minutes of intense activity 3 days a week and
8-10 muscle strengthening exercises (8-12 reps) at least 2 days a week.
On the other hand, triathlon, in its essence (swimming, cycling, running) is a pure contrast to the inactive way of life.
Aerobic exercise helps prevent heart disease, diabetes, stroke, obesity, and more cancers. Improves strength and balance, strengthens the hair, increases the number of erythrocytes in the blood, circulation in the capillaries, strengthens the heart, and has a number of positive changes in the plagues and the brain. It triggers total metabolism, improves immunity, generates a good overall psychological state.
In short, Triathlon is a sport that is at the top of the ladder of healthy sports. It is very important to know that these are basic sports that are conducted in the open (nature) rather than in fitness studios and other indoor spaces. You will get to know a lot of people who like health and sports and what’s most important have fun.
